Brohl Appointed as New U.S. Commissioner

PIANC USA just announced that Ms. Helen A. Brohl, Committee on the Marine Transportation System, was selected to replace Dr. Sandra Knight on the PIANC USA Commission. She will serve a four year term which began on August 1, 2010.

Leadership Positions in Inland and Maritime Navigation Commissions

The PIANC Secretariat recently announced that the following two mandates in the Executive Committee have come to an end:

Inland Navigation Commission (InCom): Mr. Ian White is ending his first mandate as Chair of InCom and he has indicated that he will not apply for a second one. InCom link: http://www.pianc.org/incom.asp You are leaving the PIANC USA web site. Click this icon for more information.

Maritime Navigation Commission (MarCom): Mr. Geoffroy Caude, MarCom Chair since 2007, will end his first mandate. He is willing to continue chairing MarCom, but he is also applying for the PIANC President position. If he will be designated as PIANC President, it will prevent him from chairing MarCom; therefore they are asking for other candidates at this time. Army Corps Completes Beach Replenishment Project in Time for Summer Fun

Environmental Design for Navigation Channels

The Navigation Subcommittee (of the COPRI / Waterways Committee) is looking for team members to develop two new Manuals of Practice (MOP) on environmental sustainability. These manuals will provide guidance for environmental design, operation, and assessment of navigation channels.

COPRI Congress Celebrates a Decade of Progress

The Coasts, Oceans, Ports & Rivers Institute (COPRI) will celebrate its first 10 years with an inaugural Congress, COPRI: A Decade of Progress, A Future of Opportunities, in Memphis, TN, from November 14-17. A collaborative event, the Congress will feature short courses, round tables, workshops, and speakers organized by the Institute's technical committees. COPRI is pleased to have PIANC as a non-financial co-sponsor for its Congress.
