Mr. Walker is responsible for addressing waterside infrastructure issues and relevant legislative and regulatory matters. Since joining AAPA in February 2012, his principal focus has been on advocating for Harbor Maintenance Tax funding and Water Resources Development legislation. He serves as staff liaison to AAPA’s Harbors and Navigation Committee and the Quality Partnership Initiative (QPI) with the Army Corps of Engineers. His goal is to help the Nation plan, construct and maintain 21st century maritime infrastructure for safe and efficient freight movement.
Mr. Walker’s experience includes a 36-year career with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) in navigation support, culminating with six years at Corps Headquarters leading its navigation program. His major accomplishments included development of a Navigation Strategic Vision, an Inland Navigation Capital Investment Plan and formal partnering with the Dredging Contractors of America.
Mr. Walker was rewarded with 3 grandsons in the past year and is getting even better at balancing work and play.
