Dr. Wilson will discuss how the United States specifies and applies specific types of coatings. She will also discuss how these coatings compare to other regions of the world, including the benefits of each approach. She will focus on the technology we are investing in for the future; how to move away from our conventional systems to more environmentally friendly approached that provide a longer service life. Dr. Wilson is the Director of the Paint Technology Center, Construction Engineering Research Laboratory, U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center. Dr. Rebekah Wilson graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2010 with her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She accepted a Postdoc position with the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) at the Construction Engineering Research Laboratory, Champaign, IL, and later accepted a full time permanent position in 2011. Dr. Wilson now serves as the Lead for Research and Development for the USACE Paint Technology Center, a designated Technical Center of Expertise. She leads a multi-million dollar research portfolio focusing on both civil works and military solutions through innovative coatings. These efforts include, but are not limited to, corrosion mitigation in extreme environments, energy efficiency and manipulation of electromagnetic radiation for concealment. Dr. Wilson is internationally recognized as a subject matter expert and sits as the Chairman of the PIANC Working Group 190. In FY18, Dr. Wilson received the CERL Program Development Achievement Award, Award for Excellence in Operational Support and the Department of the Army Achievement Metal for Civilian Service.
