Thank you for joining PIANC USA for a discussion on PIANC’s new report: Recommendations on the Design and Assessment of Marine Oil, Gas, & Petrochemical Terminals. A recording of this webinar can be found on PIANC USA’s YouTube Channel.
Viewers of this webinar are eligible to receive one Professional Development Hour (PDH). A certificate conveying the earned PDH is available at www.pianc.us/pdh. The password to retrieve the customizable PDH certificate was provided at the end of the webinar.
About the Webinar
Marine Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical Terminals (MOGPTs), by the nature of materials being handled, may pose risks to the marine and coastal environment, as well as affect health and safety. Risks include spills, damage to marine life, toxic fumes or vapour clouds, and the possibility of fires and/or explosions. In many cases, these risks are exacerbated by aging infrastructure and components, as well as an inadequate design for the current operations at the terminal.
In October 2022, the PIANC Maritime Navigation Commission Working Group 153B (WG153B) published Recommendations for the Design & Assessment of Marine Oil, Gas, & Petrochemical Terminals: (2022), a set of guidelines and recommendations for the design and assessment of MOGPTs to the global community. This report updates and expands on PIANC WG153’s 2016 report of the same name, adding additional content focused on LNG terminals.
The guidelines provided focus primarily on the marine terminal infrastructure, including site selection and concept selection and everything from the ship/shore interface to the foreshore area of the terminal. The ship/shore interface includes both jetties and nearshore floating vessels and their connection to the foreshore area. The foreshore area often includes the control room, electrical power supply and distribution, lighting, pig launcher/receiver, parking, security infrastructure, and related facilities.
Join WG153B member Ron Heffron as he discusses the report’s methodology and key takeaways in this exclusive webinar.
